About thefts, accidents, arrests etc. in the Burgersdorp county
It is alleged that on Wednesday 2008-05-21 at about 08:50 a motor vehicle accident occurred on a National Road between Burgersdorp and Aliwal North, approximately 4,5 kilometres from Burgersdorp. A Toyota vehicle was allegedly driven from Burgersdorp with driver and three passengers to Aliwal North. The driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle and it overturned. According to the information the driver and two passengers were treated at Burgersdorp Hospital and one passenger (45) years old (female) died on the scene. The course of accident is being investigated and a case of Culpable Homicide was opened.
On Friday 2008-05-23 two suspects aged 24 – 30 were arrested for theft that took place between 2008-05-16 and 2008-05-19 at a business place at Coligny Street Burgersdorp where the suspects allegedly stole a welding machine to the value of R 1 500-00. The suspects appeared at Burgersdorp Magistrate Court on Monday (2008-50-26) and he was released on warning. The case was reminded for further date.
On Friday 2008-05-23 two suspects aged 12 – 14 were arrested for rape that they allegedly committed on 2008-01-31. It is alleged that the two suspects raped a 28 years old woman at Thembisa Township Burgersdorp at about 15:00 inside the house. The suspects were released on the same day of arrest. They appeared before the Burgersdorp Magistrate Court on Monday 2008-05-26 and the case was withdrawn.
On Saturday 2008-05-24 one suspect aged 24 years old was arrested for housebreaking and theft that took place between Friday 2008-05-23 and Saturday 2008-05-24 at Koloba street, Burgersdorp. A 2 kg chicken meat and two loafs polony were stolen. The suspect appeared before Burgersdorp Magistrate Court on Monday (2008-05-26), he was released on warning. The case was reminded for further date.
On Sunday 2008-05-25 one suspect aged (30) was arrested for housebreaking and theft. It is alleged that on Sunday 2008-05-25 a business place was broken into. Nothing was stolen. The suspect appeared at Burgersdorp Magistrate Court on Monday (2008-05-26), he was released on warning and the case was reminded for further date.
